Last year has been a great year for Spreeha. Thanks to the support of our donors and friends globally, we were able to serve and impact 29,519 lives in 2017 in the slums of Rayerbazaar area in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The services were driven primarily by the team of doctors, teachers and social workers on the ground.
Our biggest services were in the healthcare serving 28,335 people from clinic services, pre- and post-natal care to health education. The story of Shilpi portrays a picture of the impacts Spreeha is making on the ground.
“Our village had this long prevailing superstitious practice of not consulting any doctor during pregnancy or even during child birth. So eight years ago, when I gave birth to my child there, it was an excruciating experience. But this year, Spreeha with their medical facilities, made this experience a much less painful one and they also spoke to my family regarding the need for medical care. Not only were there fewer complications, I also received very strong support from their end.” - Shilpi, Healthcare Program
Children’s Art Competition
In November, an art competition took place among Spreeha's pre-school and after-school students in Rayer Bazaar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. A therapeutic, positive distraction like this art competition brought smiles to the faces of many creative children who participate in Spreeha's pre-school and after school programs.
Seattle
Spreeha Winter Social: Journey of Hope in Seattle was a hit in November! Spreeha was able to engage many new donors and volunteers at this event. A fashion show on Bengali sarees, and Bollywood dance performances, all performed by volunteers were a great delight for many who attended. A journey of hope must begin with a single step. We thank our dedicated volunteers, supporters, and donors like you who make our journey possible.
