Dear Supporters,
We are pleased to share an important update on the progress of the Support to Health Facility in Kabul, Afghanistan project. Thanks to the generosity of GlobalGiving donors and our partners, we continue to improve access to essential healthcare services for vulnerable women, children, and families facing significant economic and humanitarian challenges.
In April 2026, Action for Development achieved an important milestone through the receipt of Vitamin A and micronutrient supplements donated by Vitamin Angels. This valuable contribution will enable us to reach 69,150 children below 5 years old and 17,300 women of child bearing age (pregnant women and lactating mothers) living in underserved and crisis-affected communities.
The arrival of these supplements significantly strengthens our ongoing efforts to address malnutrition and prevent micronutrient deficiencies, which remain among the most pressing health concerns in Afghanistan. The supplements will be distributed through community outreach activities and health service delivery mechanisms supported by Action for Development, complementing the healthcare services provided through our Kabul health facility.
Why This Support Matters
Vitamin A supplementation is one of the most effective and cost-efficient interventions for improving child health. It helps strengthen the immune system, reduces vulnerability to infectious diseases, supports healthy vision, and contributes to proper physical growth and development. For children under five years of age, adequate Vitamin A intake can help reduce the severity of common illnesses and lower the risk of preventable complications associated with malnutrition.
Micronutrient supplements provide essential vitamins and minerals that support cognitive development, learning capacity, physical growth, and overall well-being. For pregnant and breastfeeding women, these nutrients help improve maternal health, reduce the risk of anemia, support healthy pregnancies, and contribute to better outcomes for newborns and infants. Improved maternal nutrition also supports optimal breastfeeding practices and early childhood development.
The Power of Partnerships
This donation demonstrates how strategic partnerships can multiply the impact of donor contributions. While GlobalGiving supporters continue to help sustain essential health services, additional in-kind support from partners such as Vitamin Angels allows us to expand our reach and enhance the quality of care provided to vulnerable populations.
Together, these combined resources enable us to address both immediate health needs and longer-term nutritional challenges, creating healthier and more resilient communities.
Looking Ahead
Despite this progress, the need remains immense. Many families continue to face barriers to healthcare, widespread poverty, food insecurity, and limited access to life-saving nutritional support. Demand for maternal and child health services continues to grow, and thousands of women and children still require access to preventive care, health consultations, medicines, nutritional interventions, and health education.
Your continued support makes this work possible. Every contribution helps us sustain healthcare services, expand nutrition programs, strengthen community outreach, and reach more vulnerable families with the care they urgently need.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all our donors and partners for standing with the people of Afghanistan. Together, we are helping mothers give birth more safely, ensuring children grow healthier, and strengthening access to essential healthcare for communities facing extraordinary challenges.
Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping us create lasting change.
With gratitude,
Action for Development
