Dear friends,
In our previous reports, we told you about our preparation for the third stage.
We assembled three complete game sets with a tactile board, pieces and dice for blind players, built an adaptive web application that works with screen readers, and prepared methodological materials for facilitators. In the spring, we refined all of this together with teachers of the blind. And this summer, we put our work to the test in real conditions.
From 25 August to 3 September, we held the third stage of the project in Greece, on the coast in Astros. We brought together eight participants aged 17 to 22 - five blind and three with low vision.
Over these ten days, we ran game sessions using all the materials we had created earlier. Through play, the participants learned the basics of financial literacy, using the web application and the tactile materials.
But the main thing for us at this stage was selecting and preparing potential leaders. Every participant, including the blind ones, had the chance to try the role of facilitator and run a game session for the others on their own.
Those players who have mastered the application well and have the right leadership qualities are the ones we see as future leaders of financial literacy clubs in their home cities. Next, we plan to hold training meetings for them and open such clubs together with them.
We thank everyone who supports our project and helps blind young people learn financial literacy.
With gratitude,
The "Life Capital" Project Team - for blind youth.
