SAMPARK's - EARLY CHILDHOOD CARE & DEVELOPMENT CENTRES FOR MIGRANT CHILDREN

Sampark runs 26 Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) centers for children of migrant construction workers. The centers function from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm from Monday to Saturday.

The ECCD centers not only ensure the safety and well-being of the children but also offer children opportunities for growth and development in a nurturing environment.

The structured routine followed at these centers, with a combination of drawing activities, learning alphabets and numerals through songs and activities, and the regular introduction of new cognitive activities, is essential for the holistic development of the children. By engaging them in such activities, Sampark is not only fostering their creativity but also laying the foundation for their cognitive and academic growth.

MINI LIBRARIES IN ECCD CENTRES

Creating an environment where children can explore their interests through books is a powerful way to support their growth and development.

Allowing children to read their favorite books has numerous benefits:

  1. Promotes Literacy: Engaging with books helps children improve their reading skills, vocabulary, and comprehension. This foundation is crucial for their overall academic success.
  2. Encourages a Love for Reading: When children can choose what they read, they are more likely to enjoy the experience. This enjoyment can foster a lifelong love of reading, making them more likely to continue reading into adulthood.
  3. Stimulates Imagination: Books are a gateway to different worlds, perspectives, and ideas. By reading, children can expand their imagination, think creatively, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
  4. Improves Focus and Concentration: Reading requires focus and attention, skills that are essential in all areas of learning and personal development.

Sampark’s incredibly impactful initiative! Establishing mini-libraries in 10 labour colonies not only provides access to education but also fosters a love for learning among migrant children. STEM and storybooks offer a diverse range of knowledge and imagination, helping children develop critical thinking skills and creativity. By addressing the educational gap, Sampark is not only empowering these children but also contributing to their long-term success and the betterment of their communities, making kids think creatively & solve problems for a better future.

Sampark set up a mini library in 10 early childhood care and development centers in Bangalore. Children above the age group of 6 years are engaged in reading activities.

The details of the 10 centers are in the below,

1. Thubarahalli ECCD center - 23 girls and 32 boys
2. Total Environment ECCD center - 33 girls and 35 boys
3. CLPD center - 22 girls and 14 boys
4. Brigade Utopia centre - 11 girls and 18 boys
5. Waterford Center - 20 girls and 32 boys

6. Patalamma Center - 26 girls and 32 boys

7. V S Reddy Colony  - 10 girls and 16 boys

8. Doddakannelli Center - 18 girls and 20 bpys

9. Siddapura Center -  23 girls and 15 boys

10.Avalahalli Center - 17 girls and 16 boys

There are about 433 children above 6 years. Children are engaging in drawing and reading regularly at the center. The fact that children are regularly engaging in drawing and reading storybooks at the center highlights the success of this initiative. Such activities not only enhance literacy and cognitive skills but also boost creativity and imagination. Helps to build a strong educational foundation for the children and empowers them to discover the joy of learning. Encouraging their interest in these activities shows numerous benefits for their development, creativity, and academic skills.

Access to the library during the after-school program provides a valuable opportunity for children to immerse themselves in different genres, from fiction and adventure to science and history. This not only broadens their horizons and expands their knowledge but also helps them discover their interests and passions.

Overall, Sampark's ECCD centers are not only childcare facilities but strives for holistic development, nurturing the minds of young children and preparing them for a bright future.
