Thanks to the support of 10 donors through Globalgiving, Operation Canasta (a program of the Ivy Inter-American Foundation in the United States) and an individual donor, Fundación Leer is starting the project Library for Indigenous Wichi Kids in Salta.
A Reading Corner will be built at an indigenous rural school located in Las Llanas, Salta, Argentina, benefiting 42 at risk children and their families. These vulnerable families have poor access to health/educational services and literacy materials. Fundación Leer will train five local teachers to effectively promote literacy among kids in the facility. Also, 300 new children’s books will be bought and a Reading Corner assembled, bringing children closer to books and motivating them to read.
