This Project is raising funds to build a clean water pump, buy a school bus for La Grande Academie Elementary School in Zinder Niger and to sponsor 50 additional students. The school has welcomed over 150 students since opening its door 2017.
The school had to let some students go after the school bus broke down because of the long community distance, impossible for elementary school kids given the very hot weather. Enrollment went down by 65 students, 43%. Water has always been a challenges due to recurring water shortages from the suppliers and this issue has impacted the school ability to prepare meals on some days.
By having a working bus and a permanent water source, the school can serve more children and expand school programs like gardening, art and clay work.
In the long run, the school will show a better students retention rate, better quality education, a growing number of new students. Older students will grow in to middle school which is the second phase of LGA's expansion.
