LFC is a learning platform that seeks to build a resource & support base for social justice lawyers to galvanise a movement across India by connecting them. We hope to pioneer as the go-to place for social justice lawyers negotiating the labyrinth called Indian judicial system. We believe this will fundamentally subvert how we use the law as a tool for empowerment & ensuring access to human rights for all. Join us & contribute to creating a just and vibrant society.
Social justice lawyers fight inequality by using the legal system in a deeply unequal society like India. However, restricted access to knowledge limits them in their fight for the rights of the marginalised. The present legal vocabulary thrives on inaccessiblity but if knowledge really is power, then these barriers must be broken and LFC aims to do exactly that.
We aim to accomplish this by creating a community of social justice lawyers, ensuring they get free access to legal resources, including but not limited to knowledge generated from the lowest rungs of the judiciary which is barely accessible in India. We also have a Virtual Academy, which will provide persons working at the grassroots with access to research, training materials and a platform to consult each other.
LFC empowers lawyers from marginalized communities and trains them to navigate an imbalanced landscape. Lawyers for Change enables lawyers from vulnerable communities to address the specific problems faced by the communities to which they belong. LFC stands at the intersection between law and social transformation by focusing on identity building, sensitization and instilling a robust understanding of ground realities. These transformations are key to making our democracy stronger.
