We are working towards the critical goal of raising $10,000 to run a summer camp for children in Foster Care called Lexi's Camp. Lexi's Camp provides an opportunity for the children in care to just be kids. During the children's time at the camp, they will participate in many different activities such as swimming, ziplining, gold mining and much more. In conjunction with these fun activities, they will be partaking in life skills and social development opportunities.
For many children in Foster Care, they have special needs or have many triggers from trauma and being in an environment catered to them can be very costly to the foster parents.
Lexi's Camp provides the children with a safe environment to express themselves without fear of being judged. The staff is trained in how to handle a variety of behaviors due to trauma. While at camp they will have sessions with specialist to teach them how to handle difficult social situations and provide them with tools on how to control their emotions in public settings. This will allow them to feel empowered that they can control something.
This opportunity will provide a life-long impact for these children. Having the tools to control their emotions as they become adults and productive members of society.
