Report n°4 :
Dear donors, dear friends,
Last year, in June, we made a fundraising appeal through "Global Giving" for our project Let’s talk about our health.Today, we are happy to inform you about our progress.
Our team (professionals and volunteers) produced 14 videos and 6 films focused on female health and the right to health care for every woman :
- female health is a priority
- woman and young girls should receive support throughout their lives in making health choices
- public education, awareness-raising on how to improve female health.
After producing the videos, we started training specialists for our project Let’s talk about our health.
From november 2017 to january 2018 : the project manager, a midwife and a biologist, organized 4 trainings for 42 specialists, including 4 NGO members in the health field, 6 urban physicians, 5 rural physicians and several school nurses.
In January, we organized a round table comprised of 27 specialists
( journalists, physicians, teachers, social workers, school psychologists, lawyers and NGO members ) :
we presented the project, the first results and the points to be strengthened. We showed videos and explained how to use them in public presentations.
Our specialists met pupils in 4 schools and organized 2 meetings with students : pupils and students recognized themselves in the scenes of the videos and took part in the discussions with interest.
Some of them felt uncomfortable when looking at videos showing self-palpation to prevent breast cancer or plastic therapeutic surgery, but they were relieved to see that other people had similar problems and asked themselves the same questions.
Today we are negotiating withthe Institute of Adult Continuing Education so that our project might involve its students ( 500 teachers and 100 school nurses).
Thank you for your help ! Thanks to you, we were able to start this program and we'll pursue it, training new specialists who will expand the awareness of hundreds of persons and help them take care of their health. https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/lets-talk-about-our-health/
