Let's keep girls in school
Wendy
Wendy

Let me introduce you to Wendy and Millie, two great students in our program.  Wendy is waiting to join secondary and last year she met each one of her school requirements.  She was able to learn and thrive without any setbacks this year.  She is a member of the senior teens support group.  Millie is also waiting to join secondary schooling after scoring great marks on her end of year exams.  She is an active member of the senior teens support group and was able to attend a workship which was a great addition to her education.

Thanks to your donations to support our keeping girls in school project, Wendy and Millie are thriving in spite of the struggles they face at home. Both are doing well. They feel good and they love school. They have been able to meet all the school requirements and they understand your financial support makes it all possible.

Please know that your generosity is truly making a difference in the lives of these two children and many more in our program. With our partners on the ground, the children and their families receive the support and monitoring they need to make this a very successful project. We are changing lives day after day. Wendy and Millie feel your love, and so we at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS.

If you have questions or are interested in learning more about this program or others, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@afcaids.org.

Sharlet

What an amazing year it has been for AFCA's children, thanks to YOU! Because of YOU, thousands of children are thriving and hopeful. Because of YOU, hundreds of children had good food to eat this year. Because of YOU, hundreds of children have livestock and seeds with which to start small businesses. We don't have enough words to thank you for what you've done because it is huge...it is life changing.

Let me introduce you to Sharlet.  She is in class 3 and is a member of the junior teens support group.  Sharlet recently attened a workshop on adherence and she has met all her school requirements.  She has been a very busy young woman!

During the school year, Sharlet suffered the loss of her mother.  It was a very difficult time, but she was provided with counseling and is doing better now.  Now, more than ever, Sharlet understand the importance of her education.  She sends her appreciation in a message to everyone at AFCA who has supported her.

As this year comes to a close, we want to thank you for the donations you've made to support our work. If you are making your end of the year giving decisions, please keep us in mind so we can continue helping children in 2016 and beyond. Please share what we do with others, so they, too, can help our children. Together, we CAN make a difference.

We wish you the best year ever, full of every blessing and happiness imaginable, knowing you are a hope-giver. If you would like to learn more about AFCA and our programs, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@AFCAids.org.

I'm sure our donors appreciate our thank you notes, but they LOVE to hear about the success stories and the children in our programs.  Let's meet some of the girls who are attending school because of your generosity.

Furaha has joined secondary school.  We were able to cover her school fees, uniforms, shoes and books. Furaha is a member of senior teens support group and she is healthy and enjoying the time in school.

Hadija is doing well and and is showing a great interest in school. Her school requirements were met and this year she has been promoted to new class. She is a member of junior teens support group and last year she attended a workshop.

Sofia is feeling great and has joined class 6 this year.  She has met all her school requirements, and she is serious about her education.  She has promised even better results this year!  Sofia is an active member of junior teens support group and is active in her school community.

Thank you for making a difference in the lives of these young women.  They are thriving and looking forward to a future because of your generosity!  Please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@afcaids.org if you would like to learn more about this program or other programs at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS.

Do you ever ask yourself if you are actually making a difference?  Perhaps you feel so small in this great big world?  Do you wonder if the donation you made ever touches the life of a child affected by HIV/AIDS?

Take a moment to look at the attached photos and really enjoy the smile on Jane's face. YOU have directly touched this young girl.  You donation made it possible for the American Foundation for Children with AIDS to distribute pad kits to young girls and keep them in school.  Families where widows and grandmothers are raising children affected by HIV/AIDS.  They struggle every day just to see these children succeed.

So today you can be sure that you DID made a difference in the life of a child.  Jane plus many other children!  Now they can dream because they can attend school.  Life has so many more possibilities now!  Thank you for making a difference.

Miriam 1
Miriam 1

Miriam is 14 and is part of a family of five, including her father, mother and two sisters.  At first glance you would think that's wonderful.  Most of the children in our program are orphans living with elderly grandparents.  Miriam is blessed with a family!

When you look closer, you find Miriam and her mother are the only family members infected with HIV.  Her parents are discordant, making the father unsupportives of his wife and daughter.  They had a small piece of land which he sold in 2013, leaving them stranded and homeless.  How does a mother move forward to help herself and her daughter in this situation?

Miriam and her mother are blessed by donors like yourself.  They are able to attend the clinic together, and Miriam is enrolled in school.  She is very active in her support group and her drug adherence is satisfactory.  During home visits, Miriam is found playing with other children in the community.  She supports the family in fetching water, making meals and doing garden work.

Your generosity has made this new life possible for Miriam.  She would not be thriving without medicine, school fees, pads and her support group.  You have donated much more than money, you have given hope!

Are you up for a challenge?  From April 27 through May 1, thousands of people across the world are coming together to unite against extreme poverty.  Will YOU be one of them?  Go to www.afcaids.org/live to learn more and to sign up.
