We Address Educational Inequalities

By Michelle Simon | Project Leader

Three out of ten children and adolescents in our country are at risk of poverty or social exclusion, and their families' socioeconomic conditions impact their education. The digital divide, limited resources and capacities to support learning at home, and difficulties in balancing work and family life undermine their right to quality education and shape their future. This school year, at Aldeas, we have worked with more than 6,700 children and young people in our programs to counteract the educational inequality that affects them by providing all necessary support, from Early Childhood Education to university, technical, or professional training.

To achieve this, we have offered academic reinforcement, electronic devices, and internet access, as well as educational and life skills workshops. We have also guided families to help them support their children's learning process. Additionally, we have facilitated access to extracurricular, sports, cultural, or social activities that enrich them and promote their social integration.

We also offer Professional Programs for young people who have dropped out of the education system, second-chance scholarships, and the Espacio de Cambio project to support the reintegration of students expelled from school. Quality education is not only a fundamental right but also the main tool we have to break the intergenerational cycle of inequality and reduce the impact of poverty on children and adolescents.
