Dear donor,
Education is not only about attending school or receiving a scholarship. At Çagdas Yasam Destekleme Dernegi (ÇYDD), we believe that education should also give young people the confidence, skills, and opportunities they need to participate actively in society and shape their own futures.
One of the activities that supports this broader understanding of education is the Contemporary High School Youth Camp, which brings together young people from different ÇYDD branches and provides them with opportunities for learning, self-expression, cooperation, and personal development.
Our 5th Contemporary High School Youth Camp, organized with the contributions of ÇYDD Headquarters and Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, brought together 80 young people from 43 ÇYDD branches at the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Youth Camp and Training Center. The six-day program combined talks, workshops, social activities, arts, sports, reading, film screenings, and opportunities for youngpeople to work and create together.
Throughout the camp, participants explored ÇYDD's values and learned more about the importance of solidarity, responsibility and active participation. Creative drama workshops encouraged young people to express themselves, while discussions on peer relationships, youth participation and preparing work programs helped them develop practical skills for working together.
One of the most meaningful contributions to the camp came from Sedat Durna, Vice President of ÇYDD. Sedat Durna was once a ÇYDD scholarship recipient himself. Today, he serves as Vice President of the same organization that supported him during his education. At the youth camp, he shared his journey from participating in ÇYDD's high school youth activities to taking responsibility at the organization's General Headquarters. His story provided the young participants with a concrete example of how educational support can have a long-term impact.
For the students listening to him, his journey demonstrated that a scholarship at CYDD is not simply financial assistance. It can be the beginning of a much longer path: receiving support as a student, gaining confidence and opportunities, becoming an active member of society, and eventually taking responsibility and giving back to the community.
With the continued support of GlobalGiving donors, we can help more girls stay in education, pursue higher education and develop into confident young women who can contribute to their families, communities and society. So thank you..
Every scholarship can be the beginning of a much bigger journey. Sedat Durna's journey—from scholarship recipient to Vice President of ÇYDD—is one powerful example of what that journey can become.
Kind regards,
