5 out of 10 girls and women in Colombia do not have access to products and information on menstrual hygiene. As a way to strengthen our sexual and reproductive health programs for girls and women from our communities, we want to focus on this issue. With your support, we want to bring more information on menstrual hygiene to our participants, and deliver useful kits containing basic hygiene tools and alternative menstrual products with low environmental impact.
In Tiempo de Juego, we often ask ourselves why it is difficult to engage girls and women in sports and recreational activities. Most of the time, we get the same answer: there are many invisible barriers that hinder their access to these spaces. Menstruation and the lack of access to menstrual hygiene products are part of these invisible barriers. This project wants to guarantee free access to menstrual hygiene products for girls and women who participate in Tiempo de Juego's activities.
With your support, we want to bring more information on menstrual hygiene to our participants and deliver useful kits containing basic hygiene tools and alternative menstrual products with low environmental impact. This way, we will be taking little steps to promote girls' and women's participation in sports and games all month long, and all year long.
We believe that, by empowering girls and women on their menstrual hygiene and self-knowledge, we are breaking down invisible barriers that prevent them from developing their personalities freely, leading a life without shame and pressures, and accessing many activities more confidently, like sports and games.
