Terry fled Greece, a Hague Convention country, with her kids knowing that her abusive husband would file kidnapping charges against her at home in the USA. Because of donations like yours, Terry was able to get an attorney that successfully proved Terry and her kids had been abused and would be safer at home. Today the kids are having fun playing in leaves and getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas, instead of living in fear of being sent back to Greece where they would have had to endure horrific abuse once again.
Because people like you care, Terry and her kids are safe.
We also wanted to let you know about our Gift For Good on the Global Giving website: a beautiful handmade pillow cover from Jaipur, India to consider for your holiday shopping.

Thank you for all you do to help victims in need with legal assistance! Warmest wishes, Paula
Perhaps one of the most critical needs the domestic violence victims that we serve face is getting legal assistance. So far this year 18 victims have received legal consultations and assistance from AODVC while escaping domestic violence from foreign countries and seeking safety at home in the USA with their children.
In addition, four legal retainers were paid to enable battered mothers to file for custody of their children.
Your belief in our mission is what makes our work possible. Here is a quote from one of the victims. "I didn't think I would ever get out. He was just too powerful, too connected. The legal retainer you provided enabled me to keep my two daughters in the United States, safe, at home. I don't think I will ever leave the USA again! I can't thank you enough!"
Thank you so much for supporting our program!
Dear Friends and Supporters of AODVC,
During the first 6 months of 2012, the Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center has helped 254 survivors of domestic violence. We have received 1,101 crisis communications from 44 countries worldwide and provided the following services:
We received the following quote from Sally who was living in Uzbekistan,
“I was fearful for my life on a daily basis. I never thought I would be able to escape the horrific abuse until I called the Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center. Because of them, I was able to escape and I am now living a life free from violence.”
It was because of your support that we were able to help Sally and the 253 other victims that contacted us this year. Thank you for your donations!
Dear Friends,
As Mother’s Day is fast approaching, let’s take a moment to honor all the mothers in world. They give life, love, and support. One of the biggest crimes against humanity is abusing these incredible women. This Mother’s Day, please make a donation to mothers that are victims of domestic violence worldwide.
Since January 1, 2012, AODVC received 589 crisis calls and helped 77 mothers in violent and dangerous situations, providing case management, safety planning, danger to safety relocations, counseling, and legal assistance. Your donation can help a mother escape from violence overseas and rebuild her life, and the lives of her children, in a healthy, happy environment.
AODVC's Lead Case Manager received the following in an email from a victim in Rome,
“Thank you so much for all your help in my escape with my children. We would never have been able to leave without your thorough safety plan and legal assistance."
Please give to a mother and children who are victims of domestic violence. Your donation will make a difference.

Dear Friends and Supporters of AODVC,
The first quarter of this year has been extremely busy. The phones are ringing off the hook and our case managers and international advocates are working tirelessly providing safety planning, advocacy, case management and connecting survivors with legal resources and counseling. Since January 1st, 2012, AODVC has received 325 crisis communications serving a total of 56 victims of domestic violence. In the past 10 years we have received 13,500 crisis calls, emails & live chats, serving 2,904 victims of domestic violence in the Americans overseas community.
In addition to crisis management, AODVC conducted outreach in Istanbul, Turkey, Diyarbakir, Turkey, and Rome, Italy during the first quarter of 2012. We connected with US Embassies, local women’s organizations, and American women’s clubs overseas.
As our outreach is translating into an increase in crisis calls, please donate to AODVC today to help a victim of domestic violence and their children escape horrific abuse. Thank you for your support.
