Paws For a Cause - Emergency Pet Relief in Lebanon
Thank you, GlobalGiving community, for standing with American Aid (A A Relief) and for recognizing that in times of conflict, the most vulnerable are not only people, but also the animals left behind. Your compassion is helping us build a life-saving response for abandoned pets in Lebanon through emergency food, medical care, and shelter support.
Financial & Campaign Status
- Project goal: $100,000
- Funds raised: $7,057
- Remaining: $92,943
- Donations: 37
- Monthly donors: 1
- Campaign status: Active (early-stage growth and partner coordination phase)
Progress Update (This Quarter)
This quarter, the campaign continued moving forward in two important ways: growing donor support and strengthening operational readiness. With 37 donations and $7,057 raised, we are building the foundation needed to activate direct field response in a responsible, partner-led way.
Key progress this quarter includes:
- Continued donor growth, showing rising awareness of Lebanon’s abandoned pet crisis
- Ongoing coordination with local shelters and veterinary partners to prepare for safe intake, triage, and treatment
- Planning for emergency feeding support and rapid response once funding thresholds allow
Community Need (Why This Matters Now)
In Lebanon’s ongoing conflict and economic collapse, many families are being displaced or losing income overnight. As a result, thousands of pets are being abandoned—left without food, water, shelter, or medical care. These animals face starvation, dehydration, injury, and exposure, while the growing stray population increases strain on already-fragile communities.
These are silent victims of the crisis. Without intervention, many will not survive.
Program Model (How We Deliver Help)
American Aid (A A Relief) will deliver support through trusted local partnerships to ensure accountability and effectiveness. Our model focuses on:
- Emergency food and water support for abandoned and neglected pets
- Veterinary triage and treatment, including urgent care for injured animals
- Shelter coordination with local rescue partners for safe temporary housing
- Adoption and community outreach to reduce long-term abandonment and improve animal welfare
Challenges & Strategic Response
Challenge 1: The scale of need is growing faster than resources.
- Response: We are prioritizing readiness and phased deployment so that when funds increase, response can begin immediately and safely.
Challenge 2: Medical and shelter capacity is limited under crisis conditions.
- Response: We are strengthening the network of veterinary and shelter partners to expand treatment options and intake pathways.
Challenge 3: Long-term abandonment risk remains high.
- Response: We will integrate community education and adoption drives to reduce repeat abandonment and build sustainable change.
Next Quarter Plan
Next quarter, our focus is to convert awareness into consistent funding so we can move from preparation into direct operations. Priorities include:
- Grow monthly giving (increase from 1 monthly donor to a stable base that supports ongoing rescue capacity)
- Launch a targeted awareness campaign highlighting the abandoned pet crisis in Lebanon and the life-saving interventions donors enable
- Begin phased field response as funding thresholds allow (pilot feeding + urgent medical triage + shelter placement)
- Expand adoption coordination and outreach to reduce long-term stray growth and promote responsible pet ownership
Expected Long-Term Impact
This project is designed to create both immediate rescue outcomes and long-term community benefit:
- Reduced suffering and preventable deaths among abandoned pets
- Improved public health and reduced stray-related community strain
- Increased compassion and responsible pet ownership through education
- Stronger community bonds through adoption and humane care practices
Closing
Because of your support, this campaign is not just a message—it is becoming an operational response. With $7,057 raised and 37 donations, we are moving closer to the point where we can begin direct rescue work with our partners on the ground.
Every gift helps provide food, urgent medical care, and safe shelter—giving a scared animal a real second chance at life.
With gratitude,
Salah Kamal
