Welcoming Cohort 11 and bidding farewell to Cohort 9
The ceremony was followed by a farewell and thank you to Cohort 9, the group of 26 Fellows who finished their two year fellowship program which started in September 2017. It was an emotional moment where they each shared their best moments of the fellowship.

Dear Supporter,

On behalf of Teach For Lebanon, we would like to renew our utmost appreciation for your generous support. We are writing to provide you with a few updates in relation to our project and keep you up to date on the progress towards our goal.

We are just a few weeks away from TFL's annual training institute, where we invite "Fellow" candidates to join a six-weeks intense training. These candidates have been rigorously selected and matriculated for the past few months. The training is both theoretical and practical to prepare them to embark on their 2-year mission and life-long commitment.

The theoretical component will be led by one of TFL's partner universities, the Lebanese American University (LAU) under a certified program. As for the practical component, it is a four weeks summer school learning program.  Every year, TFL sets up a free summer school for children who require academic support in a certain town or village. This year again, it will be taking place at Al-Hajj Public school in Jbeil serving 250 children between the ages of 5-15 who are underprivileged children, refugees, and orphans. The summer school program is mutually beneficial for both the students and the Fellows. We engage students from different backgrounds to learn crucial knowledge, skills, and core values of civic education. Students are provided with a fixed schedule for 4 weeks, including core-subject support in Languages, Math, Science, and extra-curricular and recreational activities. Thus, it provides students with an educative, entertaining, and safe space during the summer and supports the students’ academic progress for better achievements during the next academic year. At the same time, the Fellows are being closely examined and are building the leadership skills that will prepare them for the 2-year Fellowship transformational journey. A link below has been provided to learn more about how the TFL experience is changing the lives of the students and creating a workforce of leaders working relentlessly and with great empathy to bridge the gap between privileged and disadvantaged schools.

Thanks to your support and hopefully with that of others, more students will have access to their rights to have equity in quality education by building a scalable foundation for long-term effective educators. We trust that through our continued efforts this will enable us to move closer to our vision of a future where there is no correlation between a child’s background and their educational opportunities.

Thank you for joining our belief that quality education is a basic human right, not just a simple human right, but it is also a weapon to reinforce tolerance, critical thinking, and social cohesion, which leads to a more prosperous and sustainable world.

We are always available for more information. To that do not hesitate to reach out. We would also be very happy to escort you on a field visit if you are ever in Lebanon.

Nonetheless, we would really appreciate your support in helping us spread the word!

Thank you again.

 Best,

TFL Team
