Help us set-up 5 play centres in rural Uganda - run entirely by the communities themselves - giving 600 deprived children the skills and abilities that will give them a better chance in life.
Millions of children in rural Uganda are caught in a poverty-trap and are not getting the opportunities they need to thrive and develop their full potential. Quality education is the gateway to development, but is out of reach to these children. Consequently they cannot develop the critical thinking skills needed to innovate and find their way out of poverty. These children and their communities need and deserve the chance to gain the skills and capabilities to improve their own lives.
We train & empower local volunteers to run educational play centres for pre-school children. This gives children and the volunteers the chance to develop key skills through play - such as literacy, numeracy, reasoning, creativity and teamwork.
Each play centre we set up helps 160 children gain essential skills and talents giving them a better start in life. Volunteering at the centres benefits the volunteers - empowering them, giving them the confidence, and drive to take action.
