Dear Donor,
we hope you are well! Today, we'd like to bring you exciting news from our learning spaces for children in Afghanistan.
Following an intensive preparatory phase, the project has got off to a successful start. Important milestones were achieved within the first few months: 12 community-based learning centres were set up and now provide 720 disadvantaged children (including 369 girls and 351 boys) with access to education. At the same time, the groundwork was laid for the renovation of six schools and local structures were established to embed the measures in the communities in the long term.
The 24 learning centre supervisors were thoroughly prepared for their roles and received further training in the areas of lesson planning, child protection and mental health support. In addition, 30 staff members from local education authorities took part in a three-day training course on risk assessments, child protection, barriers to education and protective measures; this resulted in a significant increase in knowledge, from 27 per cent to 80 per cent.
