Lao Tzu said give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. ROAD vocational training apprenticeship program is designed to do just that! Learning construction skills puts each apprentice in the drivers seat of their future. Wherever they choose to work in this industry, the experience gained recovering disaster survivors homes will prove to be invaluable.
ROAD first vocational team began in November 2020 with two weeks of classroom training at a technology center followed by hands on experience at a disaster survivors home. Since then ROAD vocational teams have served survivors for 4,183 hours worth $96,025.13 in volunteer labor value.
This program is a WIN-WIN-WIN for the disaster surviving family, the apprentice, and ROAD as we continue to make homes home again!
