Our Vocational Training Apprenticeship Program (VTAP - a partnership with Career Tech and WorkForce) team continues to work weeek after week recovering disaster survivors homes. Their skills continue to grow as we are able to reinforce the same project task concepts from one home to the next. They continue to learn new skills as each home always has a unique situation that requires thought and creativity in how we are able to develop a solution.
Jamie's home had roof damage from the 2019 spring storms that created water leaks on her ceiling drywall and flooring. The VTAP team was able to remove the damaged drywall and make repairs blending the new textrue to match the previous texture. Her floor had deteriorated joists that had to be replaced before new flooring could be installed.
Aaron had sustained broken windows from the 2019 spring storms. The home had window sizes that were no longer available. With funding for custom windows not being in reach the team had to reframe the opening for the new window.
Our VTAP team continue to be eager to learn as well as to help families in need impacted by natural disasters. This win-win program will increase our capacity to serve all across the state in future disasters.
