LEAP26 was more than an event; it was a transformative experience that brought together learning, healing, connection, and joy for children, youth, volunteers, coaches, and partners connected to Glad's House. The programme created a safe and empowering environment where participants explored new skills, shared experiences, and built meaningful relationships.
The activities were diverse and impactful, including first-time sewing lessons, sports therapy sessions, coaching and mentorship, networking opportunities, creative arts, dance, games, and knowledge-sharing forums. Participants also reflected deeply through activities such as the “River of Life” exercise and discussions on important social issues including modern slavery. These experiences encouraged self-expression, resilience, teamwork, and personal growth.
LEAP26 also celebrated achievement and participation through games, awards, and recognition moments. While winners were celebrated, the spirit of the programme ensured that everyone felt valued and included. The atmosphere of openness and willingness to learn inspired many participants, leaving them motivated and eager for future opportunities.
A major milestone during LEAP26 was Glad’s House gaining access to the John McGlasson Stadium in Gootani. This development marks an important step in expanding safe spaces and opportunities for vulnerable children and youth through sports and community engagement. As shared by Bokey, the organisation remains committed to its mission of protecting and empowering children and young people, especially those connected to the streets, despite the changing challenges facing communities today, including increased access to harmful substances, school dropout, mental health struggles, and hopelessness among youth.
