We celebrate the incredible journey of a 12-year-old boy who has defied the odds to find stability, love, and a place to call home. Though he never lived on the streets, his life was marked by deep vulnerability. He was homeless within his own community known by many, yet truly seen by few. Every day was about survival, and even as a child, he carried the weight of worry for his mother and other family members who were also struggling. Smiling did not come easily to him. Through sports, he was spotted, and his situation came to light. Various interventions were attempted, but at times, discouragement crept in, and he nearly gave up. Yet, we remained steadfast in building a relationship with him, gradually tracing extended family members. As complex as family dynamics can be, something remarkable happened he connected deeply with relatives living in the rural areas. The idea of having a home again, of belonging to a family, sparked a new hope in him. The process was not quick; it took over 18 months of careful relationship-building. As he watched other children reunite with their families, he found the courage to initiate his own journey toward reintegration. Today, he is thriving in the village with his uncle. Not only is he attending school, but he is also learning about his culture, community, and the warmth of family bonds.
