Part 1: GENERAL INFORMATION

Executive summary

Our target of providing vocational training to 90 youth from northern Uganda within 2 years has continued to suffer serious blow from Covid 19 other than the 20 year civil war that devastated the area we ealier mentioned. Much as the lockdown have contributed positivily to controling the problems of the idle youth, gambling, and prostitution or forming organized groups of street gangs, the lockdown instituted to reduce the spread of the pandemic has reduce the ill-actions that were being mated by the youth still prolonging their economic challenges.

With a change in strategy to a workshop approach to the hands-on skills training we have 15 youth attending training in vocational skills education, life skills survival and entrepreneurship. Our enrolment though it did not consider the affirmative action appraoch we have 13% males and 87% females with all being below the age of 30 years. With the generous support from our donors of GlobalGiving Foundation, we enrolled a South Sudanese for our tailoring course among the 15 while the 14 are being supported under the Women and Youth Resilliance Project (WAYREP) project on apprenhentership to women, girls and youth in the different skills set like tailoring, hairdressing, construction and motor mechanic being financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation.

Under the current workshop appraoch, no tuition or any other fees is being paid by the parents of the trainees.

Work progress

Our Learn to Earn! Trades school training project has not lost track but is being delayed by the Covid 19 lockdown as schooling time is lost but we continue to follow our trainees.

The Micro project number two for ‘’Help Our Ship Come in’’ was funded and we confirm recipt of the items delived on the 2021/09/09 which were picked from TWAM UK Uganda office from Mindset Development.

We have 14 trainees in the first lot attending a workshop-schoolbased like  vocational skills training sponsored by CARE International, financed by the Austrian Development Cooperation. These first lot will complete studies in February 2021 and hopefully the new lot for the same WAYREP project will be absorbed.

The other lot of the 20 youth that were sent home in March 2021 because of Covid 19 will resume studies on 2021/11/15.

COVID Relief and Micro project
No new micro project has been submitted to support the staff nor the trainees yet a new microproject on Solar Power was submitted in September 2021 and has not been fully supported though it is live and active on the GlobalGiving website.
