What happened in the first quarter of 2022 for our co-presidents?
Already after a short period of time it became very clear that being two people in the lead helped steward our worldwide community and strengthen many different corners of our organization. After finding their roles and establishing new ways of working that adopted more reflective, learning-oriented approach, our co-presidents, Darija & Sophie, embarked on a quest of reshaping the internal infrastructure, and the team structure, giving it a new and clear shine. They have been busy like bees with the fundraising team trying to raise funds for the future projects, while tending many partnerships and actively supporting our hard-working international team on a variety of projects, which were launched at the beginning of the year. Working side by side on a special tool which will keep track of all these amazing achievements and milestones of our work & broad impact oikos has, they also developed Impact Matrix. Hopefully using this tool our organization will be able to showcase more what is actually oikos about and where our impact lies.
The two co-presidents will continue to grow further into their roles and continuously revise their leadership, based on what they learn together with the team and community. This will on a wider scale result in an outstanding execution of all oikos initiatives and a better support and connection to the community.
What else is new in the oikos home? A new co-president! Carolin Lemke was elected in April as a new co-president and she will be joining office later this year, in November, when the smooth handover process will start.
Why co-presidency in the first place?
The idea of co-presidency came to oikos as a more sustainable alternative to the historical, more hierarchical one-president way of leading the network. It was a fist step towards a more self-organizing, human-centered way of making oikos thrive. And we don’t want to prate, but we are courageously taking these steps, one after the other, and developing our own ways of self-organizing, decision making, and thriving in the sea of diversity within our team and community.
