By Lauriane Dietrichs & Sophie Charrois | Project Lead & Co-President
What happened so far?
Darija became co-president in November and with Sophie, they started building their shared vision for oikos. In an extensive process, Darija and Sophie found their roles and established new ways of working that led to a more reflective, learning-oriented approach for the whole team. Only two months after her election, Darija has already taken most of her responsibilities and is leading some of the key projects of oikos like Alternative Fundraising.
What has changed?
Already after a short time, it became clear that the onboarding process for the new board members went smoother with two stewards. Darija and Sophie started focusing on specific projects with initial results and sharpened outlines. Together with the new board and the whole International Team, visions for 2022 had been established and action paths have been defined. One example is a new approach to fundraising and alumni, which have been activated before the new year started.
What it will change in 2022?
The two co-presidents will grow further into their roles and continuously revise their leadership, based on what they learn together with the team and community. Inspiring the team to take a lead and create more ownership of their projects, this will on a wider scale result in an outstanding execution of all oikos initiatives and better support and connection to the community. A new president will be elected in April and will join office in November when it will become obvious that our handover processes and knowledge management have leaped ahead.
A reminder: Why co-presidency?
The idea of a co-presidency came to oikos as a more sustainable alternative to the historical, more hierarchical one-president way of leading the network. The introduction of the co-presidency can be seen as a first step towards a more self-organizing, human-centred way of making oikos thrive.
