Provide Hygienic Bathrooms for Guatemalan Students

I am excited to report that the new bathrooms, septic tank, and handwashing station are complete at the Barrio San Pablo School in Chisec, Guatemala. I was able to visit the school last week, take some photos, and speak with the Director, Angel. Everything is complete and functional, and the students are using them. On my last visit, a number of the children came up to me spontaneously and gave me hugs. They, the parents, teachers, and Director Angel are extremely appreciative and grateful. One of our principles is that recipients have "skin in the game" - for this project, the parents contributed all the labor for the project without needing to be pressured. It is truly an example of a great partnership to meet a real need for the children. Many thanks to all our donors!

Good news! The bathroom project is almost complete. As of today, the new septic pit, drain lines, bathroom building, water tank, cleaning storage room, and handwashing station have been completed. The remaining work is only painting and site cleanup, and the bathrooms should be available for use this month. This is a tremendous improvement for the health and comfort of the students and staff at the Barrio San Pablo elementary school in Chisec. The principal, students, and teachers are very excited about the school improvements. This is a great school with a principal committed to the students' education, and the children demonstrate their interest in learning every day.
