Children are the invisible victims of domestic violence. Based in London, we run the only Shelter for Latin American women and children in Europe, providing a life-saving space to flee and tailored support for families to rebuild their lives. A welcoming environment is essential for a child living in a shelter to overcome their trauma. Often they come to us destitute with nothing but the clothes they're wearing. We offer essential goods,saftey and psychological assistance to help them recover
Every week 2 women are killed by their partners and in around 80% of violent incidents children are in the same or next room. Children deeply suffer from these experiences, but their invisible scars are often overlooked and their silent call for help not heard. They often develop needs for specialized assistance as a result of having witnessed ongoing horrific scenes of their mothers being beaten, humiliated, raped and murdered. Without a safe space to flee to, their lives are in danger.
The first step is saving lives by providing refuge and the second is offering support for survivors to start a new life, thrive and develop their full potential! We work tirelessly to help vulnerable Latin American women and children, that is why our Shelter is so much more than a roof. It is a space of hope, healing and new beginnings. With your help we can offer a temporary new home, counseling sessions, hygiene and school packs, and a play room to help families overcome these difficult times.
