Freedom of the press is heavily restricted in Belarus, where the arrests of independent journalists and activists are ongoing. At least 600 Belarusians remain behind bars as political prisoners. Many more remain at risk simply for advocating for human rights.
Belarusian-led organizations have been struggling to fundraise because doing so puts them at risk of being shut down by authorities. That's why Last Week Tonight is partnering with GlobalGiving to support nonprofits in Eastern Europe that are committed to democracy and freedom of the press.

When you donate to this fund, your donation will be used to:
- Provide financial and advisory support to people (and their families) who have suffered political repression and political persecution
- Help pay for medical expenses
- Provide legal assistance for nonprofits providing scholarships and grants to journalists
