The Last Mile project is a social entreprise in Tanzania which improves access to life-changing products for women. By helping women access product solutions, we are helping them to solve every day challenges that hold them back from the quality of life that they and their families deserve. By focusing on women, positive outcomes spread to the entire household. It means healthier, happier and more productive families. When women are empowered, communities benefit.
Women in rural Tanzania do not have have access to the products that they need to achieve the quality of life that they and their families deserve. Lack of solutions for menstrual health management, safe drinking water, clean energy and many more means that women cannot solve the challenges that face them and their families every day, holding them back from healthy and dignified lives. Rural communities are under-served by traditional distribution leaving millions of Tanzanian families behind.
Last Mile exists to provide universal access to life-changing products through a network of community-based sales agents, made up of mostly women. Local supply chain offers consistent and reliable access to high-quality, affordable products which improve quality of life, including reusable sanitary pads, water filters and solar energy. Last Mile redefines how rural distribution is done by empowering women as our key customers and sellers, and by doing so improves the lives of entire households.
Our goal is to become the most trusted distributor of products serving 1 million women in Tanzania in 5 years. By giving women access to the products they need, they are able to live healthier, more productive lives, with more opportunities, and to provide a better quality of life of themselves and their families. As we continue to grow our network of sales agents, we invest in skills development, and increase the amount of sales and income opportunity for our sales agents.
