Growing Resilient Landscapes

By Malinali Gonzalez | Marketing Specialist

Thanks to donor support, communities across Australia are growing the native plants, knowledge and local capacity needed to restore nature and build resilience to future challenges.

Our network of community nurseries is helping overcome the shortage of locally sourced native plants by supporting seed collection, propagation and the growth of regionally appropriate species. These plants are restoring habitat, strengthening biodiversity and supporting projects such as Fire Wise, which brings together ecological restoration and bushfire resilience.

Through hands-on planting, seedbank development, workshops and education, communities are gaining the skills and resources to care for their local landscapes for years to come.

The Impact:

  • 30+ community nurseries supported across four states.
  • 1.2 million native plants grown and planted up to 2025.
  • 647 hectares under active restoration.
  • 49 community groups engaged in on-ground action.
  • 14 nurseries supported to grow Fire Wise species.
  • 110+ fire-resilient native plant species propagated and planted.
  • 145 living seedbanks established.
  • 4,900+ people trained in Fire Wise planting and land management.
  • Together, we are growing stronger communities and more resilient landscapes.
