Land purchase for ownership of the school

Ambergris Caye Elementary School has been at its current location since 2009.  We had to start over having lost our previous location due to management changes.  Still, in the face of adversity, our little school survived.  We have remodeled old buildings, built 2 new buildings, and purchased the land, so no one could ever tell us we needed to move, ever again. We have grown from 24 students to almost 100 students and our need for space and facilities continues to grow.

So, whats next?  This year the mortgage on our property will be paid.  So, we hope to begin planning for a new building which will provide us with bigger classrooms and a two-story concrete building.  Now, this is of great importance when you live in the tropics on a small island in the Caribbean Sea.  We need bigger classrooms, as our current classrooms are only 10' X 20' which will only accommodate a maximum of 15 students per class.  Even with so few students, the classrooms are cramped.  The importance of concrete is immeasurable in the tropics.  With, termites, wind, rain, salt air and dry rot, it seems there is always another need for repairs. 

And then, what about tsunamis?  Now it hasn't happened yet, however, just a few weeks ago there was a tsunami warning due to an earthquake offshore.  We need a two story building so we could move our 100 children up to higher ground.  The flat rooftop of our planned building will provide that added safety.  We need to be proactive rather than reactive, then it's too late.
