LEAP Africa is a youth-focused leadership development nonprofit organization raising leaders to transform Africa. The organization is tackling issues of leadership dearth, employability and entrepreneurship skills gap, corruption, and encouraging social good through active citizen participation. It develops and implements human capacity programmes for African to facilitate the transformation of people, communities and organizations.
The root of Africa's problems has been traced to the dearth of good leadership. Whilst the continent is the richest in terms of natural resources, millions continue to live in extreme poverty. With 200 million people aged between 15 to 24, Africa has the youngest population in the world and LEAP's theory on youth empowerment lies in the potential of every young African to be a change agent that Africa desperately needs. If they are ill- equipped to transition they are unable to transform Africa
LEAP Africa (founded in 2002) is working with local and international partners to deepen research around youth leadership development. We design and implement programmes that is building the capacity of young Africans (particularly the underserved) by equipping them with leadership and life skills, entrepreneurship and employability skills, to innovate, transition successfully and contribute meaningfully to communities, organizations and social transformation on the continent.
LEAP Africa will support the realization of the SDGs 4, 8, 10, 16 and 17. Through our programmes and activities, we foresee that a new cadre of leaders will emerge in all sectors and industries, and will influence organizational growth, policies and economic development that will move the continent to the new frontier. Our goal is to see a transformed continent led by ethical leaders.
