Dear Himalayanlife family, friends and supporters,
We have been successfully running MINI-SCHOOLS at the village level, offering bridge-schooling to the children until more permanent educational opportunities will be introduced to the area. At the Mini-Schools, the children are prepared academically to enter quality schools within a year. Also, the children and their families receive trauma counseling and basic assistance addressing their manifold socio-economic and health needs. However, the future of the area rests on the aspect of solid education for the next generation. Only if good schooling is available for their children, families will truly build their future in the 15 communities comprising the Yangri Valley, rather than migrating to Kathmandu or abroad, facing the uncertainties of foreign laborers.
As we firmly believe in the pivotal role of education as the key for comprehensive and sustained transformation, the planned school is the king pin of the comprehensive relief package for the Yangri area.
HimalayanLife is building a primary/secondary school for 100 students in the Yangri Valley. The school has boarding facilities for half of the students, making the school effectively a regional education center. Hence the school’s name: YANGRI ACADEMIC CENTER.
We look forward to keeping you posted on the progress of our expansion in the Yangri valley.
From all of us at Himalayanlife, a very BIG thank you!
