Dear Himalayanlife family, friends and supporters,
The Ripaar Mini-School continues to deliver education to the children in the village. Teacher’s training and continued support for Sujata, the teacher in Ripaar, ensure quality and consistency in the children’s education. Himalayanlife is furthermore assisting with the two temporary government schools in the Yangri and Dhale/Brato villages. Significant progress is being made academically and socially, as the children are inundated once again into the world of learning.
In May, a suitable plot of land has been procured for the planned boarding school. Meanwhile, plans have been developed for constructing the school. As far as the building for the school goes, there will be an emphasis on using local building materials for creating an environment conductive to the process of learning for the children. The building(s) will also be constructed in an earthquake resistant manner.
Presently, the premises of the future-school are being prepared for the construction of the school. Gabions are being built to secure the banks of the Yangri River. Building materials (stones, timber) are being prepared. Commencement of construction is scheduled for 15th September 2016, once the monsoon rains begin to recede.
We look forward to keeping you posted on the progress of our expansion in the Yangri valley.
From all of us at Himalayanlife, a very BIG thank you!
