Kids for Trees: Sowing Seeds of Sustainability
We are thrilled to share our report regarding “green success” registered during the past months with the generous support of our donors. During the past months, our focus was on mobilizing local youth for a hands-on environmental action. We successfully engaged 25 students across two schools through our stewardship workshop. These sessions emphasized the importance of local biodiversity and sustainable planting techniques, truly sowing the seeds of sustainability. We received local financial support worth $20 and other in kind donation. We equally engaged 01 volunteer. We used the funds to buy pods for our native tree nursery. We equally identified areas that will be used to plant these trees
Challenges and Learning
Our main challenge has been securing adequate space for planting. We have addressed this by partnering with community leaders and school authorities who have given us the go ahead to identify areas suitable for our work with the children and only inform them. We equally have challenges securing funds to realize our project. We continue to appeal to individual team members at GlobalGiving to assist us share our campaign within their networks.
Looking ahead
Our focus now is to set up a nursery of over 2500 trees and also a “dry season guardian initiative” to safeguard trees that were already planted against harsh weather. We hope to start Green clubs in 02 schools to enhance our educational outreach. Thank you for helping us turn small hands into powerful conservation tools.
