Summary

Last September, thanks to donations through GG, we launched Kick-Off in Santa Rosa, in Cajamarca. Children joined weekly sessions during school hours, learning through movement and practice. This year-and beyond-we'll continue the sessions adding new elements to strengthen learning and sustainability. New activities will help children notice how relationships shape decisions. A new income-generating piece will begin: hand-painted football each reflecting a value practiced on the field.

Challenge

Despite Peru being considered a middle-income country, the quality of education remains low. The education children receive is often weak due to several factors-one of them being the lack of preparation to help them thrive in today's world (e.g., living with uncertainty and making decisions in such conditions). Though the parents' association does its best to support their children's learning, they recognize the value of working with other actors, and initiatives like our Kick-Off project.

Solution

Children engage in structured physical and relational learning through football. Sessions are guided by a coach and follows a plan that encourages collaboration, attention, and adaptability. Coaches adjust the activities based on participation and observe behavioral patterns. After each session, they produce narrative records that track group dynamics and individual responses. Over time, students develop social, emotional, and decision-making skills that contribute to their everyday life.

Long-Term Impact

Kick-Off builds consistent learning practices, led by the local school and supported by community coordination. The project strengthens ties between families, school staff, and coaches over time. In this new phase, children will also draw and paint symbolic footballs that represent values experienced on the field. These footballs will be sold, creating a way for the project to generate income rooted in the experience itself, helping to sustain the initiative and support the families involved.
