We initiated Khokana Earthquake Debris Removal Initiative (KEDRIN) after the April 2015 earthquake with the objective to demolish buildings damaged by the earthquake and remove associated rubble and debris for regeneration of the community in Khokana village, Lalitpur district.
With your donations, we were able to hire machinery, labor and fuel needed to clear the rubble and demolish unsafe buildings. We also encouraged participation of local beneficiaries through Khokana Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Committee (KRRC). There were few challenges such as arrangment of heavy machinary and the start of pre-monsoon rain, which lengthened the expected time of the project works. Despite these struggles, your continuous support encouraged us to keep moving forward and we are very grateful for that.
About 350 people have directly benefited from the demolition work. In fact, this project has been a key to the regeneration and future of the Khokana community. Without it, the people would have a hard time rebuilding their homes. Without your support, they would have continued to suffer the indignity and pain of living in temporary housing that lacked basic facilities. We really, really thank you for your donations and support and hereby notify you that the project is now closed.
Nevertheless, we look forward for your kind support in our other initiatives. Your small help could help us support another struggling life in Nepal.
Thank you once again!
