As per the agreement signed between ECCA and Khokana Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Committee (KRRC), the first phase of demolishing and debris removal activity is soon to commence. All the preparation activities have been completed. Approval from District Development Committee (the local Government) followed by the approval of Social Welfare Council (Government of Nepal) has been received.
There has been delay mainly due to the recent blockade at the border, the subsequent fuel shortage and non-availability of heavy machineries (back hoe loader, tipper). The partial effect of the blockade is still persisting in the market: the fuel market has not come to normalcy yet. However, the working environment has begun, though there is some inflation in the cost.
Regarding the identification of the clusters and the beneficiaries, the Khokana Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Committee has identified five clusters (pockets) of 20-30 houses each. The committee has proposed to start work from pocket 1 and 2.
Khokana Community and ECCA are very grateful for your support. We would still appeal to more and more people to support in rebuilding Khokana.
