Our young friends from Khe Sanh area are enjoying their exciting summer break. However, like all other tribal children, they will have to help their parents with some chores and farm work. Living in a poor mountainous area, these children get used to having no relaxing summer time.

However, this Summer is a bit different because they will have some fun extra activity to do. For the first time, they have a foreign teacher helping them with English. The students in Pa Nho School and Khe Sanh Primary School will have English classes delivered by Mr. Scott, who has volunteered to help these students since January 2016. This effort is a continuation of library program by GCSF Vietnam in improving education for ethnic minority children in Khe Sanh area.

"I enjoy my time here in Khe Sanh working with these nice children. They will have some extra activities apart from just staying home and helping with the farm during summer vacation. Good news that we have just collected about 600 books from US and raised some money to buy more books. So, our young friends will have gifts for their coming school year.", shared Scott.

So far, more than 780 students from 6 to 10 at Khe Sanh Primary School, Pa Nho Satellite School and Ban 1 Satellite School have enjoyed the library gifts in GCSF Vietnam's library program. The libraries are daily used during school time with over 2,000 books borrowed per month. In this summer, all the librarians are busy sorting out old books and circulating them among the main schools and satellite schools so that new books are always available for the students in different school sites.

In September, these students will be back to school and continue enjoy their reading habit at school libraries. Meanwhile, there are still more remote schools around Khe Sanh where young children are longing for the same opportunity. Nothing is more meaningful for these students than a library gift for their new school year. Thus, along with our volunteer Scott, GCSF Vietnam would like to extend our library mission to help more tribal children realizing this dream of knowledge.

Friends, let's join hand with us for this meaningful Summer mission.
