While our young friends in Khe Sanh Primary School are enjoying their library, news arrives for their friends in the nearby Ban 1 Village. By March 2016, 56 young students from Pako and Van Kieu tribes received their gift of books, bookshelves, reading tables and chairs. 400 books in different topics are becoming the focal interest for these children in their leisure time.
“Finally, our school has a library. I love the colorful bookshelves. We even have reading lamps. I think we have fancy library. Everyday, I and my friends love spending time there whenever we have free time.” shared young 8-year-old My. My has studied in this same school for three years but she has not had a chance to approach a library until last March. Therefore, the new library is a great gift for her and her classmates.
Ms. Nguyet, GCSF project officer, shares that she feels motivated seeing how these disadvantaged children enjoy the books. “My daughter can have all the books she asked for because we are living in the city and our family can afford to buy them. But these children, they don’t have that luxury. Therefore, they are very excited to see a “real” library there.”
Friends, the mission is still on. We need to spread out this mission of delivering books to remote rural places where higher education level means a better future for young generation. Let’s support GCSF in this meaningful campaign.
