Dear GlobalGiving Friends,
Construction of the Khe Sanh Primary School Library has been completed since the last report, and the building is now in use. The new library contains 10,000 books and 5 computers. These resources provide reading and research opportunities to over 750 students and teachers.
Phase 2 of the project will be implemented soon and provide a mobile component that will travel to more remote villages. With the addition of the mobile outreach program, this facility will enrich the lives of thousands in Khe Sanh and the surrounding countryside for many years to come.
The official dedication ceremony is being organized for the beginning of 2014, but students and teachers are currently using the library on a daily basis. About 100 students visit the library each day, and dozens of books have already been borrowed.
“My friends and I go to the library every day. I love learning from [a] computer. There is a lot to see and learn from the internet. We never have it at home.” - Ho A Li Sa, a 9-year old girl from the Paco tribe.
This project would not have been possible without generous friends from all over the world. We would like to extend a big “thank you” to all of our supporters for bringing knowledge and smiles to the disadvantaged children of Khe Sanh.
With warm regards and best wishes for 2014,
Nguyen Xuan Tam and the GCSF team in Vietnam
