Dear GlobalGiving Friends,
We made it! Thanks to the success of the recurring donation campaign last December and the generous contributions on the recent GlobalGiving Bonus Day, the Khe Sanh School Library Project has surpassed its funding goal of $26,000. We are happy to inform you of the approaching groundbreaking with a ceremony scheduled for 15 July 2013.
The bid review process has been completed, and a contractor has been selected. The legal documents between GCSF and the Huong Hoa District Department of Education and Training (DOET) are being processed with a memorandum of understanding to be signed first.
Library construction is expected to last about 5 weeks, and furnishing will be complete in an additional two weeks. With the completion of the library in August, more than 700 students and 40 teachers will begin the new school year beginning on 5 September 2013 with a new library. "We wish to have a library for so long and now it is becoming visible. My students are very excited when they hear the news that the library will be built in a few weeks," shared Headmistress Huong Vo.
The steady progress of this first GCSF project with GlobalGiving has been a positive experience. We look forward to sharing photos of the construction progress this summer and on to project completion. With our sincere gratitude for your support,
Nguyen Xuan Tam and the GCSF team in Vietnam
