Greetings GlobalGivers,
Global Community Service Foundation’s founder and president, Marcia Selva, toured the organization’s ongoing projects throughout Quang Tri province last month, and I was honored to serve as her guide. We visited the main campus of the Khe Sanh Primary School where the library will be constructed. It is located 65 km west of Dong Ha town and about 2 km west of the old battlefield.
We were warmly received by the school's principal, teachers and students. Some of the children who will benefit from the library are shown in the photo of Ms. Tran Thi Hoai's 5th grade Vietnamese writing class. Principal Huong sincerely thanked us for the ongoing effort to raise money for the library and stated, "In many meetings between school management board and parents of students, I get a lot of feedback from them that the school needs to have a library. There are more than 700 students in my school and they do not have access to a library. The kids have plenty of free time and they love to read books and would like to learn how to use a computer and the internet. Unfortunately, funding for the library is beyond our financial capacity. A library would be very beneficial to the local children and help them to catch up with the knowledge that is now accessible by most of the big city children.”
Nearly 50% of the funding needed to begin construction of the Khe Sanh Primary School Library has been raised in less than 6 months. We are very grateful for your support of this special project.
