Kesher, in partnership with JDC-Mesira, recently celebrated the launch of 10 Rights and Information Centers serving families raising children with disabilities from Israel’s Arab communities. The Information Centers - which span the country, from Beer Sheva in the south to the upper Galilee in the north – are each staffed by a professional coordinator and a group of specially trained volunteers.
The Centers will be complemented by Kesher’s new Arabic-Hebrew website. The new website will include a services and rights database as well as community-space where families from Israel’s Arab communities can help one another – offering tips and advice based on their own experience and working together to overcome the hurdles and discrimination they face.
The Centers are overseen by Adv. Sari Gavara, himself an Arab man with blindness. Adv. Gavara has already succeeded in helping many families whose stories are publicized by Kesher in order to encourage additional families to make use of the Centers.
