Kesher’s 2015 Special Families Report: “It Can’t Be – A Look at the Lives of Israel’s Families of Children with Special Needs”
As an organization dedicated to improving the lives of the 330,000 Israeli families of children with special needs, Kesher operates on numerous levels including maintaining a constant pressure on policy makers and the Israeli public, forcing them to recognize the reality in which these families live. To this end, each year Kesher publishes an annual “Special Families Report” in February, in honor of Israel’s Family Day.
This year’s report, “It Can’t Be: A Look at the Lives of Israel’s Families of Children with Special Needs” looked at the many challenges families face in accessing health services, education and rights for their children.
The report was sent to all of Israel’s MKs and policy makers as well as numerous organizations working on behalf of individuals with special needs and the thousands of families with whom we are in contact. The report serves as a trigger for creating change, both by garnering media coverage and by fostering activities amongst the local authorities, where thanks to the report parents living this reality have organized and begun working to create change.
