Kerala Flood Relief

Activities conducted during last quarter :

During the last quarter the Foundation continued the survey in various areas and collected the list of requirements by meeting the respective government officials and the needy.

The second phase focused on devising permanent solutions to the damage created by the floods by rebuilding of temporary / permanent shelters for the needy also, to identify the need for the educational institutions which were destroyed during the floods.

The following activities took place during last quarter based on the assessments and analysis

• Home designs signed off agreement to execute construction for 4 homes.
• Foundation stones laid for these 4 homes. Targeting completion within 90 days.
• 4 different house designs have been completed (with detailed BOQs) to allow beneficiaries a choice of design, while ensuring that our objectives - sustainability, re-usability of material, local sourcing and resilience were met.
• The primary government school approached us to help rebuild the school wall that had been washed away. Leading the rebuild, students from the National Service Scheme were also engaged in the process.

 Donation of technology equipment’s were handed over to the effected schools

• Repairs of homes: Not all homes need complete rebuilding. Many houses require repair works and we are supporting the repair works as well.

The Foundation is planning to complete all the relief initiatives by 15/05/2019 so as to be ready before Monsoon hits Kerala again.
