Ignatius, 21 years old, aka The Kibera Kid
Editor's note: Ignatius was chosen to be The Kibera Kid in the award winning short film, released in 2007. Ignatius lives in Kibera, one of the largest slums in East Africa, located in Nairobi, Kenya
I am now living in the world of believing all things are possibilities just because Hot Sun took me in my nothingness and put me in their film (The Kibera Kid)… an act that transformed my life wholly.
Today I can confidently say that the dreams I have today and the steps I have made Hot Sun has had a hand in them. I am grateful to the entire Hot Sun Foundation. I am what I am because of them.
People around the world should unite and help support Hot Sun Foundation in its aspirations to ensure social transformation through media and art. Many people today wouldn’t have become what they are it not for the impact Hot Sun has had in their lives.
I have witnessed people who used to just loiter in the slums of Kibera being transformed to great camera men and women and editors of TV stations in Kenya.
For me this is why primarily Hot Sun Foundation ought to be supported: to help give a future to those people who maybe have lost hope about the future and yet they have great talents that haven’t been tapped.
A better Kenya will and can be achieved with the existence of organisations such as Hot Sun Foundation.
I am witness to the great job they have done to many people in my locality.
