Painful Joy

By Martin Mwangi | Kibera Film School trainee

Making my very first short film,  'Missing' was a rather painful joy.  First of all because of all the work that went into writing the script and the different changes the script went through before it was actually ready to shoot.

Shooting  the film was another hurdle.  Talking about team work was one thing but executing it is a totally different thing. Working with people can be very hard and being thrust out of my comfort zone as I was forced to direct 'Missing'.  I am more of a technical man. It was quite a challenge but I loved every second of it.

The whole experience of making a short film  has really impacted my future as I know now my strong suits and which areas that I am really interested in and  where to concentrate.

I would love to say thank you

• to Hot Sun Foundation for giving me the opportunity to live my dream to be film maker,

• to my fellow students Isaac Bade, Noreen Kombo, Godfrey Chogo, Shirley Stacy and Michael Mwangi for assisting me in shooting my very first film,

• to the trainers for all the advice and help and a special thank you to trainer and Kibera Film School graduate Joash Mageto

• to Global Giving supporters for believing in us.

We want your support because you love what we're doing!                                                                                    If you are living in the USA, now is the BEST time to give to receive a tax donation. http://goto.gg/3632

Thanks again and again.

A very Happy New Year to you, your family, friends and communities.

Yours sincerely,

Martin Mwangi
