By Bonface Mogaka | Kibera Film School graduate
My name is Bonface Mogaka. I am an alumni of Kibera Film School.
I graduated last year (2011) and got a job at Themescape Media Ltd, a production company in Nairobi, Kenya. I have been responsible for contents for Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, M-net Africa and other productions as well.
Since I joined the Kenyan film industry, it has been tough. But it was a great opportunity for me to graduate from the Kibera Film School. My life changed. I feel like Kibera Film School prepared me to cope with the Kenyan film industry and how I could fit into it.
I am also glad that not only myself but some of my friends from Kibera Film School have been adopted into the Kenyan film industry and they are also doing great.
Now that I finished my contract at Themescape Media, I thought it would be a good idea to go back and share my experiences with the new trainees at Kibera Film School.
This is the vision of Hot Sun Foundation: social transformation through media and art. Kibera Film School grads return to share with others the skills they have gained, creating a positive cycle of transformation. This is unique in Kenya.
I have already been interviewed and given a chance as a Post-production Trainer at the School.
I feel this is a great opportunity not only to give out my skills but also to inspire them to work hard.
During this holiday season, consider giving a gift to honor someone you care about at http://goto.gg/3632
Thanks for all you do to support people like me at Kibera Film School
Bonny.
