Hot Sun Foundation, located in Nairobi, Kenya, is a unique organization that offers not only quality training in photography and filmmaking for youth who otherwise would not have access to such training, but provides follow up.
Graduates and interns from the Hot Sun Foundation Film School develop their skills and gain more experience by working on short film projects. They recently worked on Mia’s Great Escape, a creative fashion film, using local talent.
Here’s what interns and graduates had to say about working on Mia’s Great Escape and Hot Sun Foundation’s Film School.
Max, intern
Mia's Great Escape was a great experience because I got to work with great minds. I learnt a lot during this shoot. I loved everything from the equipment used, the good communication between the director cinematographer and the production team. The project was fun, entertaining and a great learning hub for me.
Hot Sun Films internship is important to me because when I was in school I used to learn and hear about equipment but I had no access. My training at Hot Sun made it possible for me to work with cameras. I am still learning. Every task I was assigned during my internship, even cleaning the lenses, has made me a better upcoming filmmaker.
Erastus , graduate
Mia’s Great Escape showcases talent and at the same time brings out the best in African youth, especially here in Kenya. Therefore this experience made me learn more and further embrace our rich African culture.
Why is Hot Sun Foundation Film School training important?
Everyone that worked on this project brought their best into the film. By doing projects like this, the school is nurturing young talent
Ronald, graduate
I loved the story idea of Mia’s Great Escape about fashion and the locations. It was a useful experience because it brought together different mediums of art and artists to work on a creative short film. It is important for upcoming young filmmakers because bringing creatives together is the current way of creating artistic films.
Thank you to all past, present and future contributors to Hot Sun Foundation.
Your contribution of any amount helps to provide ongoing training to youth living in Nairobi, Kenya who otherwise would not have access to quality filmmaking training and equipment.
